Every day in rural communities and poor urban centers throughout India, hundreds of millions of people suffer from a lack of access to clean, safe water.

-India is facing a fresh water crisis.  India has just 4% of the world's fresh water, but has 16% of the world's population.

-70% of the country's population live in rural areas where 50% of the water is contaminated with toxic bacteria.

-Every year about 600,000 Indian children die of diarrhea or pneumonia, often caused by toxic water or poor hygiene.

This water is often full of water-borne disease that is making them and their families sick. Illness from drinking dirty water and the time lost fetching it robs entire communities of their futures. Most villagers in India only have stagnant pond water or polluted river water for their use. This water is used for drinking, cooking and bathing by the entire village of 1,000 or more. The villagers have no choice but to wash themselves, their children and clothing right next to water buffalo and pigs. When this water is used for drinking or cooking, they are exposed to many pollutants and disease-causing germs. Much of the illness that plagues the country comes from bacteria-laden water.

One of the greatest needs in India is for clean, portable water

Do you believe that everyone deserves something as simple and crucial for life as clean, safe water?

A gift of $1,500 allows GIVE INDIA HOPE to supply a village with good clean water.  This also helps us to be welcomed to go into an area with the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ. In such instances because of the bore well the appointed Pastor is generally respected instead of being persecuted.

You can help provide clean, safe drinking water.  Sponsor a hand pump today.

To help solve this problem, GIVE INDIA HOPE has been actively involved in providing tube wells to villages. Each well is fitted with a strong hand pump and a concrete base to keep the well area clean. These wells make a huge difference in the communities.

This is a bore well which we try to raise money for to bring clean water to those who use contaminated water.

Women and young girls especially bear the burden of walking miles at a time to gather water from streams and ponds.
